Food Safety at Sea Level 2 Award (RQF) from Aaron Scott and Black

Food Safety at Sea Level 2 Award (RQF) from Aaron Scott and BlackFood Safety at Sea Level 2 Award (RQF) from Aaron Scott and Black

At Aaron Scott and Black, we are very excited to have delivered a new course for seafarers on 12 May: Level 2 Award in Food Safety at Sea. This one-day qualification course ends in a multiple choice RQF-accredited exam and has been developed especially for mariners in the Superyachting, cruising and shipping industries to address the specific hazards to food while at sea, especially now that tighter regulations surround the qualifications of those who handle and prepare food at sea.

Those who are booking on our courses include existing crew who now need an accredited qualification to retain their jobs, as well as new recruits (“greenhorns”!) as part of their training. If you are aiming to join the world of Superyacht crew, competition is stiff, so it’s a great idea to gain this qualification to add it to your CV before you sign up with a recruitment agency. Those who are booking their places on the course include Galley crew, Stewards and Stewardesses and Deckhands.

For Chefs and Chief Stewards, Stewardesses, Housekeepers and Captains, the new Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety at Sea has been launched as a progression route from the Level 2 Award.

All the candidates must attend the course in person (it is not an online course!) because the new marine regulations mean that online courses are no longer accepted in the industry and crew must provide an accredited certificate showing that it is an RQF Ofqual officially recognised qualification listed on the Register of Regulated Qualifications (RRQ).

Aaron Scott and Black is delighted to offer these Food Safety at Sea courses to support our many marine clients in the Southampton, Hamble, Warsash and Portsmouth areas, in the Superyachting, cruising and shipping industries. Our next Level 2 Award in Food Safety at Sea takes place on Monday 3 July and again on Monday 7 August 2017.
